halloween was a blur. went to work the next day before 8 and burned my hand. it’s kinda cool actually. “yoooo lee jones! what happened to your hand?” life happened to my hand. haha
came home half an hour ago from work and while i was ringing the doorbell saw a moth caught in a spider web. the spider kept poking at the moth and the moth would frantically bat its wings and the spider would draw back… and come again. it was mesmerizing in a geeky biological sense. haha
dom came over today and nancy ordered pizza. my “the teen vogue bandbook: an insider’s guide to careers in fashion” also came today : ) wooohooo!!! i remember when i was in grade 10 i emailed eva chen, the beauty editor of teenvogue, asking her about what internships were like and such. AND SHE EMAILED ME BACK : O i was so starstruck! people go crazy over superstars, i go crazy over teenvogue editors. anyway, i knew even back then that i had to work there, and the book is fucking amazing! and came with a year subscription which was bomb.
whenever I get in this rut mood feeling i tend to want to destroy something beautiful. or toss everything out and start over. rip up my journals, paintings, throw out all my favourite magazines, rip up all the love letters and notes from friends, cut my hair short. then i regret it later. so i won’t do it, won’t do it, won’t do it.
On the back of my starbucks cup this morning :
“The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating - in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life.”
I never thought about it that way but it seemed so true when I read it.
On a completely different topic, my weekend was pretty fantastic. No work or school on friday so dom came over and we chilled for a while, then i went to the library to do an essay. saturday i had to get up at 5.30 for work, but i kind of love getting up that early because no ones about and everything is so relaxed. was going to go to mira’s birthday but dom and i ended going to see the invention of lying which was a laugh. afterwards we went to tim hortons for a midnight iced cappachino. i ate an infinity of fuzzy peaches but i have completed a whole week without chocolate. only 3 left to go. hallelujah!
